Our philosophy stands on thee mainstays. These are like the legs of a three legged stool. The seat of the stool itself is the foundational principle of "simplicity."
Customer ServiceSimplicity - A mentor of mine, and a man instrumental in my acceptance into my master's program, always use to tell me "keep it simple stupid." I'm fairly sure he was not calling me stupid, but it allowed for use of the acronym of KISS. Sometimes he would just say remember to KISS when I diverged into making life more complicated than a Gordian Knot.
Keeping it simple is a very hard thing to do in today's world. Agriculture and the seed world know this especially well. There are constant changes to market demands, import and export regulations, state laws, seed testing methods, and consumer's inclinations, just to name a few.
At J & T Green we strive to keep things uncomplicated. Testing is done by the AOSA Rules for Testing Seed. We do not issue Canadian or ISTA type reports of analysis. We focus on the Intermountain West for our customer base since we are located in Idaho and feel best suited to meet the needs of the smaller to mid-sized companies prevalent in this area, of whom are our neighbors, and demand personalized, uncomplicated communications. We want to make your world and ours as "simple" as possible.
Knowledgeable Testing - As the owner of J & T Green, I have 30 years of experience in seed testing. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education with a minor in Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno. I received a certificate of completion from the Larimer County Vocational Technical center in the seed technologist program in 1987. I obtained my Masters of Arts in 2006 in Marylhursst, Oregon. I have been a Registered Seed Technologist since 1989.
J & T Green has only hired people with experience in seed testing. All personnel are managed under my direct supervision.
Customer Service - Our formal mission is: To provide reliable information to a customer base who deals in unconventional or non-mainstream crop types on a timely basis and in a courteous manner. Too often in today's business world customer service is lacking. Telephone push-button menus and email barrages cannot take the place of direct human contact. It is our philosophy to give personalized customer service to our clients.
Rationality - To simply define the word as it is used here in this diagram; the word means acting ethically in regards to yourself and others. The mnemonic "RRR" stands for respect for others, respect for yourself, and taking responsibility for your actions. We will always strive to respect our customers, their wishes and their viewpoints. However, the "customer is always right" adage isn't one we follow. If we think you are wrong, we'll tell you so. If you ask us to do something we regard as against our ethics, we will say no. This attitude is one essential if we are to have respect for ourselves, which of course, is the second "R." The last R is one that ties into the other two legs of the stool. If there is a mistake in our testing or reporting (the first leg of the stool,) we will remedy it with a retest or an amended report respectively. We will do this under our mission of providing reliable information to a customer……..in a timely basis and in a courteous manner (the second leg of the stool, customer service).
